The Book Continues . . .

The words, wisdom, insight, and reflections of an up and coming generation continue to evolve into a project of which I am becoming very proud. The teens and students with whom I am working have committed to making this happen – and together we are moving forward.

The writing of the students is reflective and meaningful. A statement for each of his or her outlook on life, the present and the future. For more than a few, this has been a task and an area of reflection that either has been or is not often revealed in written or spoken form.

The photographs are my observation and study of who each truly is. My goal is to eclipse the posing and posturing and capture a more genuine and real moment – and thereby a more genuine and real portrait.

Several formats have been and continue to be tried. Each brings a new perspective and a new alteration.

But, for those of you who have been following along, a few samples to show where we stand. Layout sample pages which are being presented to see if we can secure some funding.

All things Jonas

OK, so I wasn’t overly familiar with all things Jonas. Don’t judge – it seems that I somehow missed the tidal wave of what’s up in the world of teen pop music. Of course I knew OF them; I just had a limited understanding of their exact impact on today’s world. Apparently a sighting of these three guys will cause an enormous demographic of human society to scream, cry, and shake. The music, the clothes, the hair, the “look”, the smiles, all seem to render gazillions of worldwide  adolescents  giddy and speechless.  I recently worked on a promotional sequence photographing the Jonas brothers for their upcoming TV show – wasn’t really sure what to expect.

These three guys are a total pleasure to work with and complete pros. We had VERY limited time with the brothers and clearly they know exactly what they are doing. Kind, polite, considerate, and completely devoid of any pretense or attitude.

The sequence itself is series of all still photographs shot at high speed and then linked together as stop motion action. A very cool effect and a great  spot. The lighting and the background were set for the promo piece and are not what I would have set if this entire thing had been about me shooting portraits – but I was happy to use what I had. The spot on YouTube is:
